What You’ll Do

You’ll be the right hand to our Shelter Veterinarian and Lead Surgery Coordinator, supporting clinical surgeries, post-op recovery, and the coordination of care for some of our most vulnerable animals. This role blends hands-on veterinary support with administrative organization to ensure surgical needs are met with accuracy and urgency.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing animals and the operating room for surgeries
• Assisting during procedures and monitoring vitals
• Ensuring proper post-operative care, documentation, and medication delivery
• Coordinating surgery schedules and prioritizing adopted animals for timely release
• Overseeing the cleanliness and readiness of the surgery suite
• Maintaining medical records and ensuring compliance with controlled substance protocols
• Providing guidance to supporting staff during surgical procedures
• Assisting with critical care plans, special cases, and outsourced specialty treatments

What You Bring

Experience & Credentials

• Clinical surgery experience (intubation, IVs, anesthesia, wound care, etc.)
• Prior veterinary or shelter medicine background required
• RVT certification a plus, but not required
• Proficient in PetPoint, Microsoft Office, and medical data entry
• Strong skills in animal handling—including fearful, reactive, or fractious pets
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stay on your feet for extended shifts
